heh.. actually, if u think advertizing like that isn't allowed change ur signature, lol.

nah.. just like some people mentioned gamedev.net.. i mentioned ur site

its not really advertizing, is it? ;)

For the most part, all except the language specific and DX portions of the "game programming" questions can be answered here.

Want to write a tile-based game? The basic principals are the same and (as said numerous times) can be asked anywhere. If you get stuck on how to actually code a collection class to hold your sorcerer's spells, try the general forum. Or if you can't get the sorcerer sprite to draw transparent, try the graphics or DX forum.

If the post counts increased dramatically to where people looking for non-game related graphics questions got confused with all the game related questions, then maybe the forum could get split.

For the record, I would rather have a Crystal Reports forum before a Game Programming forum.

I'd like to see a reporting forum as well, although I wouldn't want it limited to just Crystal Reports. That way I could ignore all the threads started there. :)

I agree with Derek - that's my only positive thought towards the introduction of a game programming forum.

Since no moderators would probably be watching a "Reporting" or "Crystal Reports" forum, why not make it a "Non-Moderated" forum and the game programming questions can get jammed in there. Two birds with one stone! :p

Nerseus: Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English, from Late Latin muchos humorous

Reporting program is an application that generates graphs, reports and things like that to visually show things from the data you pass in to it. Crystal reports is an example of a program like that.

Listen... I dont think that a game programming forum should sway you one way or the other. This is because u dont have to view it and <most likely> it wont sway your time at dotnetforums. On the other hand, there are many ways that others could benefit greatly from it. SO why would you care? maybe if there was a game programming forum you would be helped by it too. I know for myself, programming visual basic is a hobby and i just a kid so... if any of you were 11 year old children who love playing video games what do you think you'd want to find a forum about programming?
And dont say to yourselves "oh children shouldnt be messing with programming anyway" because, if im gonna be a programmer when i grow up... I'll have started young enough to have mastered stuff like ado.net and directx at 16.
I think u should find it in your heart to actual help the cause, because its a nice thing to do for others - why do u care if other people get assistance.
PS please dont like hack my computer or do anything like that i DONT want to start anything - this is just my opinion....

I think we're done with this topic. We've already covered the reasons why it won't be implemented yet, and you know that if a significant number of that sort of question (that really _could_ live in a game programming forum) are asked, we're likely to create one.
