Mark Posted October 6, 2003 Posted October 6, 2003 Is it possible to connect and open a .xls file with password protection? I have to use a single file to save information about pcs on my company and to do so i have to put this file in a completely shared folder. So i would like to connect to an xls file with password....because i don't want that other people can access this data. Thank you in advance!! Bye Mark Quote
*Gurus* Derek Stone Posted October 6, 2003 *Gurus* Posted October 6, 2003 You do realize an Excel password can be acquired within seconds from the *.xls file using one of many programs found on the Web? It is not secure in the least. Quote Posting Guidelines
Mark Posted October 7, 2003 Author Posted October 7, 2003 Sure but i have to protect some data from "accidental" reading. I know that it is a small security but for my company users it is enough. Does any system to connect to a protected xls file exist? Thank you for your answer. Bye Mark Quote
*Gurus* Derek Stone Posted October 8, 2003 *Gurus* Posted October 8, 2003 I'm fairly certain the Workbooks.Open method of the Microsoft Excel Object Library includes an optional parameter for a password. Quote Posting Guidelines
