OK, I put the "&" in the text of my buttons and menu items.

ex: &File

So that the ALT F will open that menu item. When the program starts, the line under the F is not there until I hit the alt key. then the lines show up under the letters I have the & sign before. ANd then when you press the "ESC" key or the "ALT" key again the lines go away. I want the lines under the leters to always show. That way the general public who will use this program knows they can use the alt key.

This is a windows setting and nothing really to do with .Net.

If you look under Control Panel, Display, Appearance, Effects it should be the bottom option.

Personally I much prefer seeing the underline. I also think it makes it harder for new users to discover what can be done if it's hidden. Many a time I've had new users say things like 'What's that line for?' then you can explain the idea to them. If they never see the line how are they supposed to know about the ALT key?
