*Gurus* Thinker Posted November 20, 2002 *Gurus* Posted November 20, 2002 (edited) BTW, I noticed that when I click on the .Net header forum (the one that takes you to the "subforum view" with the .Net categories i.e. Graphics, Window, language etc.), it has an option to post a new thread... where would this new thread go to or is it even supposed to be there? This is a bit of a problem. Yes, it shows up on any subforum on the assumption that a subforum is supposed to take posts. Even though this one isn't supposed to, using this box will cause a thread to be stored under this forum. But you can't see the thread after that (unless you find it in the list of posts for your username). Not sure if it can be fixed to first look if the forum is supposed to take posts. [edit]Never mind - was simple to fix just by setting one option for the board from the control panel.[/edit] Edited November 20, 2002 by Thinker Quote Posting Guidelines
Leaders lebb Posted November 20, 2002 Leaders Posted November 20, 2002 Looks like that same issue exists for the Knowledge Base, too. Quote Laura "Science without religion is lame. Religion without science is blind." -- Albert Einstein
*Gurus* Thinker Posted November 20, 2002 *Gurus* Posted November 20, 2002 Thanks - had just discovered it when you posted. And on a bright note, the hack to make the Legacy Visual Basic jump was really quite simple while I was fixing the other quick jump hacks. Quote Posting Guidelines
*Gurus* Thinker Posted November 20, 2002 *Gurus* Posted November 20, 2002 Been testing the mark this forum as read option on this version of vBulletin, and so far, it has been working perfectly. Can't wait to move visualbasicforum.com over to it too. Quote Posting Guidelines
*Gurus* Thinker Posted November 20, 2002 *Gurus* Posted November 20, 2002 When I open this thread, there is a warning at the top of the page which says: I'm not sure why this is just showing up here and not on the VB forums, but it happens when a user has a 1969 signup date, and has posted on a thread, and you have your timezone < -6. I am not sure it is worth hunting down what exactly is happening as long as we can just change the signup dates. Quote Posting Guidelines

*Experts* Volte Posted November 24, 2002 *Experts* Posted November 24, 2002 (edited) Badge, the test user, shows up in the Forum Leaders page. [edit]It's fixed[/edit] Edited November 24, 2002 by Volte Quote
*Experts* Bucky Posted November 24, 2002 *Experts* Posted November 24, 2002 In RT, the "I hate VB.NET" thread shows ericgamer47 as the last replier, and so does the forum itself. The thread says it has 6 replies, but I only see five, the last one being by Robby. Yes, I refreshed the thread several times. http://www.xtremedotnettalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=49355 Quote "Being grown up isn't half as fun as growing up These are the best days of our lives" -The Ataris, In This Diary
*Experts* Volte Posted November 24, 2002 *Experts* Posted November 24, 2002 That's what happens when a post is deleted/moved. There are quite a few of those errors around the forum. Quote
*Gurus* Thinker Posted November 24, 2002 *Gurus* Posted November 24, 2002 It isn't an error, it is a feature. ;) We strip junk posts off of threads all the time, and it has always done this. Quote Posting Guidelines

Leaders Iceplug Posted November 24, 2002 Leaders Posted November 24, 2002 Speaking of missing, what's going on with the Web Forms sub forum of the Active Pages .Net sub forum of the Language Specific sub forum of .Net... http://www.xtremedotnettalk.com/images/blue/vb_bullet.gif according to the previous sub forum, it says that there are two posts there, but I fail to see either... were those deleted too? *Gurus* Thinker Posted November 25, 2002 *Gurus* Posted November 25, 2002 I see them too. However, for some strange reason, when I click on the link to go to that forum (using the virtual forum url), all the images fail to load. Quote Posting Guidelines

*Experts* Volte Posted November 25, 2002 *Experts* Posted November 25, 2002 I believe the problem is with using styles that don't fully support the hack, or something. I think it's looking for images in dotnetforums.com/f11/images/ for example. Quote
*Gurus* Thinker Posted November 25, 2002 *Gurus* Posted November 25, 2002 (edited) I am guessing Volte is right because I am using Lite With Blue on this forum rather than BlueVelvet. I expect if I was using a style with the virtual URLs, it would work. And it is only when clicking Bucky's link. Of course, I am using IE6 SP1 too, so you never know. ;) [edit]Yeah, changed to BlueVelvet and images come up.[/edit] Edited November 25, 2002 by Thinker Quote Posting Guidelines
Leaders lebb Posted November 25, 2002 Leaders Posted November 25, 2002 I checked with Bob last night, and he says it's still the SP1 issue. I have the same problem with other styles; fortunately, I use BlueVelvet. :) Quote Laura "Science without religion is lame. Religion without science is blind." -- Albert Einstein

Leaders lebb Posted November 25, 2002 Leaders Posted November 25, 2002 Remember that the user statuses here are a snapshot of the statuses on EVBF when this forum was created. Obviously Lebb hasn't been promoted here yet. Also, while the leadership of EVBF at the time of E.NF's creation got to keep their roles if they wanted, the two sites will each have distinct sets of leaders/mods/admins, so having a leadership role on one site doesn't necessarily mean that the same will apply for the other. Leaders lebb Posted November 25, 2002 Leaders Posted November 25, 2002 (edited) Hmm... this is odd. After replying to this thread, I notice that it is marked as unread. I tried reopening the thread, and also marking the forum as read, but in all cases the thread still shows as unread. No big deal, I just thought it was strange. Anyone have a clue why this would happen? [edit] Well, after testing for a bit, it seems due to the "Automatically login when you return to the site?" setting in user options. Not quite the behavior I'd expected, but at least I know how to resolve it now. :)[/edit] Edited November 25, 2002 by lebb Quote Laura "Science without religion is lame.
