Leaders JDT Posted November 19, 2002 Leaders Posted November 19, 2002 When I open this thread, there is a warning at the top of the page which says:Warning: unexpected error in date() in c:\inetpub\xtremedotnettalk.com\admin\functions.php on line 1628 Quote Trey This signature is no longer a forgery
*Experts* Volte Posted November 19, 2002 *Experts* Posted November 19, 2002 That only seems to happen when the time zone is between -7 and -12 inclusive. Looks like perhaps the old infamous time bug from the WWWThreads is back. :-\ Quote
*Gurus* Thinker Posted November 19, 2002 *Gurus* Posted November 19, 2002 I messed around with the Title for the Visual Basic forum header and turned it into a link back to http://www.visualbasicforum.com. I realize the Title Visual Basic is a bit generic so it might be better if it said something more specific. Maybe Legacy VB? Quote Posting Guidelines
*Experts* Volte Posted November 19, 2002 *Experts* Posted November 19, 2002 (edited) How about Visual Basic 6 and under. :-\ It's not really legacy VB, as it's not obsolete, and still widely used. [edit]How about just 'Non .NET Related Languages', since the other forum does cover more than just VB[/edit] Edited November 19, 2002 by Volte Quote
*Gurus* Thinker Posted November 19, 2002 *Gurus* Posted November 19, 2002 Guess what, Mr. "VB6 is pretty much dead to me". Legacy doesn't mean obsolete. If it did, there is no way I would have stuck that there. Quote Posting Guidelines
*Experts* Volte Posted November 19, 2002 *Experts* Posted November 19, 2002 Heh, OK, whatever. I have always heard the term legacy used to describe old versions of drivers primarily, which are, pretty much, obsolete in most respects. VB6 is not really an older version of VB.NET, any more than QuickBASIC is an older version of Visual Basic 6. I guess I just misunderstood the meaning of legacy. :-\ [edit]Alright, I understand the meaning now, and yes, VB6 is indeed very much a Legacy program. Sorry. :-\[/edit] Quote
*Gurus* Thinker Posted November 19, 2002 *Gurus* Posted November 19, 2002 Well, MS is no longer selling VB6 (except in very specific cases), but they plan on supporting it through 2008. Certifications for VB6 aren't close to being retired, but MS is moving most of the msdn VB6 and below stuff to archives. It is going to be used extensively for many years to come, but will probably lose ground to .Net each year. This is a pretty good description of what legacy software is. Quote Posting Guidelines

Leaders Iceplug Posted November 19, 2002 Leaders Posted November 19, 2002 A bit of nostalgia... there are 15 posts being displayed per page while stated as 20 in the CP (I think)... the thread says 2 pages, but I see 3. *Gurus* Thinker Posted November 19, 2002 *Gurus* Posted November 19, 2002 Yeah, already know about it. Either I will fix it when I get FTP access, or Bob will. It is a minor change to a .htaccess file. Quote Posting Guidelines
Leaders Iceplug Posted November 19, 2002 Leaders Posted November 19, 2002 Not sure if it is wrong or not, but in the Interop forum description, should it be "marshaling" or "marshalling"? I consulted a dictionary and both of those spellings are acceptable. :) Quote Iceplug, USN One of my coworkers thinks that I believe that drawing bullets is the most efficient way of drawing bullets. *Experts* Volte Posted November 19, 2002 *Experts* Posted November 19, 2002 (edited) I consulted a dictionary and could find neither word in there at all. :-\ Oh well, no big deal. Who am I to criticize spelling, anyway? :p [edit]Happy now, robot?[/edit] Edited November 20, 2002 by Volte Quote

Leaders Iceplug Posted November 20, 2002 Leaders Posted November 20, 2002 Heh. BTW, the Forum Jump Logout doesn't work and I get a "No thread specified" page. *Gurus* Thinker Posted November 20, 2002 *Gurus* Posted November 20, 2002 It won't work until the hack I did gets back into the code. It will at some point. Quote Posting Guidelines
*Gurus* Derek Stone Posted November 20, 2002 *Gurus* Posted November 20, 2002 Oh, and there seems to be some extra (old) threads in the Announcements forum. Thanks for pointing that out. All taken care of. Quote Posting Guidelines
*Gurus* divil Posted November 20, 2002 *Gurus* Posted November 20, 2002 Wasn't there a new version of this software coming out, or something? I recall someone (VolteFace?) getting excited about it once. Anyway, perhaps that new version will rid us of the need for all these hacks. Leaders Iceplug Posted November 20, 2002 Leaders Posted November 20, 2002 BTW, I noticed that when I click on the .Net header forum (the one that takes you to the "subforum view" with the .Net categories i.e. Graphics, Window, language etc.), it has an option to post a new thread... where would this new thread go to or is it even supposed to be there? Leaders Banjo Posted November 20, 2002 Leaders Posted November 20, 2002 Also, the quick jump item for Legacy VB takes you to a thread browser page with no threads. It would be nice if it took you straight to the EVBF main index. Quote Those who live by the sword get shot by those who don't!
*Gurus* Thinker Posted November 20, 2002 *Gurus* Posted November 20, 2002 That will probably take a serious hack. While I have high hopes that vBulletin3 will do away with the need for many of these hacks, it isn't likely we can go to it till the middle part of next year. Quote Posting Guidelines
Leaders Banjo Posted November 20, 2002 Leaders Posted November 20, 2002 Is it not out yet, or is it just a case of letting others find the bugs? Quote Those who live by the sword get shot by those who don't!
*Gurus* Thinker Posted November 20, 2002 *Gurus* Posted November 20, 2002 I think it is alpha only. Need to go to the vBulletin site today so I will check on what they are saying now. Quote Posting Guidelines
*Gurus* Thinker Posted November 20, 2002 *Gurus* Posted November 20, 2002 Just checked and it is now listed as vBulletin 3.0 Alpha 2 Still no beta release date listed. You can see it at http://beta.vbulletin.com Quote Posting Guidelines
