oziweb Posted August 17, 2003 Posted August 17, 2003 g'day I have a asp.net site that is developed in VS.net code behind using vb. I am using a msaccess database. The problem is - the site runs on my local iis - I have setup the iis folders exactly the same as my host server. The site pages are in the root directory and the database is in a folder under the root called fpdb. When I attempt to access the database on the host server I get an exception error saying that I do not have permissions Ok I beleive that one must give aspnet account read/write permission to the database folder (fpdb) - this is my problem - the host runs .net framework the same version as I am using and I cannot get access to the host folders to set permissions - I can only use front page. I have asked the host to set the permission but like a lot of business's they do not answer their email - is there any way I can set the required aspnet account permissions by front page or by script. This is driving me crazy at the moment John Salmon Quote
*Gurus* Derek Stone Posted August 17, 2003 *Gurus* Posted August 17, 2003 No, you'll have to get the host to do it. If you could change the permissions yourself that wouldn't be very good security, now would it? :) Quote Posting Guidelines
oziweb Posted August 17, 2003 Author Posted August 17, 2003 due to the exchange rates I had to change hosting providers - the previous one allowed me to control just about all aspects of my shared server including permissions. I have no problem with having to get the hosting staff to do the configoration however the problem is actually getting them to read the support request emails., lets face it .net is a excellent system why do most of these hosting providers try to complicate it John Quote
