I noticed that at this .net site, the post count goes up for a member when one posts in Random Thoughts. Over at http://www.visualbasicforum.com, the post count doesn't increase in the same forum (been that way for quite a long time). Just curious as to why it is allowed here and not the other.

Anyways, have a good day. :D

Yes, but why not implemented here? I thought one of the reasons was to deter members from starting silly threads (probably like this one :p ).

Things have been in control here and no one seems to waste posts just to increase their count, besides, we will implement the new version of the forum software here in the near future.

The system of ranking's (Junior Contributor, Contributor, etc) seems to cause people to post like maniacs to get a new title. Not that I ever experienced that, of course..... ;)

In theory, eliminating the ranking bit might eliminate that particular flavour of spam, but some people would just find another reason to spam.

Post count is good to keep for statistical purposes, and it is always nice to know how much you have contributed. :) We don't have much trouble with it, and what little we may have... well, that's why we have moderators. :p
