i read somewhere that the Visual Studio 2003 upgrade was free! is this true

I'm curious, does anyone know if the upgrade would work with the Academic version of VS.NET? Academic is the exact same thing as Professional, except I have to use it for education purposes and can't sell anything I make with it.

OK -- that quote applies to the $29 offer, which I think already expired. I have the academic version of Visual Studio 6 Professional. Can I upgrade from that? I haven't found anything on the MS website that explicitly says you can't, although I haven't found anything that explicitly says you can either!

no way? are you serious - i thought it was the same except file types are different - i never noticed much change...:p
