teknojiz Posted May 17, 2003 Posted May 17, 2003 Let me start off by saying I have no programming experience except for maybe some basic programming back in high school. I have never programmed anything object oriented. I currently work in the IT field, just more along the lines of the MCSE track. I am currently trying to change careers and start programming. I've decided Visual C# is the way I want to go. I picked up a copy of visual studio .net but there is only so much I can learn by playing with it. Where can I go for some beginner tutorials on C#, VC#, and OOP programming in general? Everything out there that I have read has expected that you already know VB. Can anyone help me out? Thanks in advance. Quote
Guest mutant Posted May 17, 2003 Posted May 17, 2003 This is a great C# site: http://www.c-sharpcorner.com/ Also: http://www.windowsforms.com/ http://www.gotdotnet.com/ Good luck programming! Quote
teknojiz Posted May 18, 2003 Author Posted May 18, 2003 I've looked at these sites, and though they all have a wealth of information, it seems to be over my head. I cannot find any beginner tutorials or material for the absolute newbie. Am I going about programming the wrong way? I remember BASIC having an awesome help file with all the commands listed, what they do, and an example on how to use them. I'm looking for something like that for C#. Quote
AndreRyan Posted May 18, 2003 Posted May 18, 2003 (edited) If you'd prefer BASIC try looking up VB.Net, .Net is universal across all its languages(except C++) so you won't loose many features using VB(Unmanaged code is the only one I think). Use Google to look for some The MSDN library in Visual Studio .Net has almost everything you need and anything it doesn't you should find on community websites or msdn.microsoft.com Edited May 18, 2003 by AndreRyan Quote .Net allows software to be written for any version of Windows and not break like Unmanaged applications unless using Unmanaged procedures like APIs. If your program uses large amounts of memory but releases it when something else needs it, then what's the problem?
*Gurus* divil Posted May 18, 2003 *Gurus* Posted May 18, 2003 The best thing for a beginner to do is buy a book. There are loads on beginning with C#, try a Wrox one.
