How come some of my posts do not appear in the topic listings? Sometimes it says I was the last to modify, but when I take a look my entry does not appear? If I search on my name I find it??

OK get this:

I place a post/reply.

I go to the home page and the forum states I was the last to modify that forum.

I go to that forum but my post/reply are not showing?

The only way I can see them is if I search on my name??

So a post says 0 replies, I reply to it and it still says 0 replies??

Is there a delay for posts to display?

No they don't appaer at all?

For example this post is in the right forum. When I look at this forum the post is there as it was prior to my post reply, but when I search for posts by me it appears in the search results with my changes included.

This is driving me nuts!!

OK. I look at the home page, it says I was last to modify this forum. When I go into the forum it shows this post as last answered by Hornet, not me or you?? When I search for my name all changes since Hornet are there??

I have a similar problem sometimes. Just hit F5 to refresh to page.

Well, I have the one that works set to:

No document or other caching. You can leave image caching on (and you should as it'll speed things up).

Server Checking is set to 5 hours on all three.

Why are you guys using Opera? Are you using something other than a Windows-based OS? I remember trying Opera a few years ago for testing some web-based apps, but I found horrible compared to IE and (gasp) even Netscape. Maybe it's changed, but I couldn't imagine why anyone would use it on Windows...

I'm just asking for my own curiosity.

I think it is a good browser, and works a treat. This problem with the pages not being refreshed happens in IE too??

I only use IE and it works great. It will take a lot to convince me to use another browser.

Hog, in your settings (preferences) do you have anything like "Check for newer version of pages" or something to do with Cache?

Oh yeah, and make sure that both the redirect checkboxes are checked.

Nerseus:

Opera is much improved in its latest incarnation and the only thing that I've found it incapable of is Windows Network Authentication.

The main reason for using it is the tabbed browsing capabilities.

For a long time Internet Explorer was the only browser to use, but that time has long since passed. As it stands now, Internet Explorer, Mozilla, Netscape and Opera are all viable solutions. Standards support has increased in all of them in the past year. Features such as tabbed browsing and popup-blocking are found in all the newest versions (except for Internet Explorer), and these are huge productivity aids, to say in the least. There are pros and cons to all the major browsers, but they're slowly being worked out.

It would be rather uneducated to judge any of the top browsers. Take a week and try one of them out. You might just find something useful.

I have used IE, Netscape, Mozzilla and now Opera. By far this version of Opera is better than the others for looks and speed, (well to me they are:-) )

Mozilla would be a great browser and I would still be using it if it weren't for the fact that if you keep opening and closing tabs for long enough it just grinds to a halt or crashes. Annoyingly this is a bug that present back in Netscape 4. You'd think they'd have fixed it by now.

Opera has a similar although not as drastic problem but has a decent solution if not a fix. The autosave sessions mean that you can simply fire it up again and continue where you left off.

Tabbed browsing is relatively new in Mozilla so I'd expect it to take at least another year to perfect. Mozilla is also reorganizing its roadmap for its browser and mail client, and as a result we're going to see huge speed benefits. Mozilla is a very solid choice, but when it comes to speed it is undoubtedly the slowest.
