bungpeng Posted April 19, 2003 Posted April 19, 2003 When I reply thread in the forum, I need to subscribe to that thread, then only forum will send email to me if anyone reply my message. Is there anyway I can pre-setting, so if anyone reply my message (thread might not start by me), I will get the email notice, instead of I have to subscribe to that thread every time I reply a thread Quote
Moderators Robby Posted April 19, 2003 Moderators Posted April 19, 2003 Go to > User Control Panel > Edit Options > then select Yes in Use 'Email Notification' by default? This will subscribe you to a thread (you reply to) automaticaly. Quote Visit...Bassic Software
bungpeng Posted April 19, 2003 Author Posted April 19, 2003 It won't work....I also thought this is what I want, but just notice it not work, so I thought it is for others... Quote
Leaders lebb Posted April 22, 2003 Leaders Posted April 22, 2003 That setting will not automatically be used for quick replies. If you use the post reply button instead of the quick reply box at the bottom of a thread, then it will automatically subscribe you (if you have that set in your user options). If you do quick replies, though, you need to separately click the "subscribe" link to subscribe to the thread. Quote Laura "Science without religion is lame. Hey Laura, that's something that's seemed weird to me too. If someone selects in their preferences to get email replies, they likely want them regardless of "how" they reply. Maybe this is corrected in the next version of the software? Quote --tim
*Gurus* Derek Stone Posted April 22, 2003 *Gurus* Posted April 22, 2003 "Quick Reply" was added in as a hack to the software. Therefore any inconsistencies are hardly the fault of Jelsoft, the creators of vBulletin. Quote Posting Guidelines
bungpeng Posted April 22, 2003 Author Posted April 22, 2003 Yes, it is quite confuse. If this is the case, why don't just disable the "Quick Reply"? Thank you for your information anyway... Quote
Leaders quwiltw Posted April 22, 2003 Leaders Posted April 22, 2003 A hack so good, I assumed it was a part of the software. Thanks for the explanation. Quote --tim
bungpeng Posted April 22, 2003 Author Posted April 22, 2003 Sorry, May I know what is 'hack' is this case? Quote
Leaders quwiltw Posted April 22, 2003 Leaders Posted April 22, 2003 Sure. http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/H/hack.html Meaning, someone here modified the software to provide this functionality, it's not built into the vBulletin software. Quote --tim
bungpeng Posted April 25, 2003 Author Posted April 25, 2003 Normally I will use the "Quick Reply", because it is convenient to me (not need to wait a new page to load when I click "Reply to Post"). Are you going to change this feature or I there is not way for "Quick Reply" to use email notice? Quote
Leaders lebb Posted April 25, 2003 Leaders Posted April 25, 2003 With this version of vBulletin, you need to either use the standard "Post Reply" option; or if using quick reply, then separately click the "Subscribe to this Thread" link. vBulletin 3 does automatically subscribe you to quick reply threads if your profile is set that way, so I am sure when we upgrade this site, you will have that option. (And no, we have no date for that yet, since vB3 is still in private beta testing.) Quote Laura "Science without religion is lame. Religion without science is blind." -- Albert Einstein
