Elliptical/Circular gradient

How can a circular or elliptical gradient (or a portion of an ellipse

or circle) be drawn within a Rectangle?

 

I'm thinking it can be achieved with a PathGradientBrush and a

certain GraphicsPath, but I'm not sure exactly how.
