mike55 Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 We will be performing a large ETL on a night basis starting in the next month or so. The job will collect data from a database in or main office, and then transfer that data to a hosted database server located in another part of the country. We have been assured by the infrastructure team that the network connection between both locations is secure and has been encrypted. Do I need to worry about encrypting the data transfered during the ETL, or is it even possible to do so? Mike55. Quote A Client refers to the person who incurs the development cost. Nate Bross Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 It depends on your ETL process. If your network team has told you that the connection between the servers is secure I'd say that your good to go. If it's a secure VPN connection [more than likely the case] it is just as if the two servers are connected via the same network switch, both are behind your firewall.
