Active Directory Clarity

Hello,

 

I am relevantly new to asp.net by 5 - 6 months. I have successfully created an intranet program and now am looking to add security to it.

 

Down to the question; is it possibly that anyone could give me a clear definition or example on how to use the active directory on a server to validate inputted username and password.

 

I have looked over the asp forum and more and can�t seem to grasp it, maybe due to too much stress! lol!

 

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.
