brads55 Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 Does anybody know of any tools that I can use to create my own meshes? and that can use .x files? Quote
Nate Bross Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 3D Studio Max is a good software package, and I believe the DirectX SDK comes with a conversion tool. Nate Bross Posted November 3, 2005 Posted November 3, 2005 Free 3D Modeling software, I don't know how good this is because I haven't used it, somebody in my 3D modeling concept course did a presentation on this software, it is opensource. http://www.blender3d.org/cms/Home.2.0.html Quote ~Nate ___________________________________________ Please use the [vb]/[cs] tags on posted code. brads55 Posted November 4, 2005 Author Posted November 4, 2005 Are there any others as im using that one and im having problems getting it to export the textures to a .x file. Quote
Nate Bross Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 I don't know how good any of these are, but a quick search turned these up on the first page of results. I don't know how many applications actually export to .X files. I believe you need to export them in a 3DS Max file format and use the DirectX SDK to convert them to .X files. http://www.anim8or.com/main/ http://www.3dcgi.com/learn/free/free-3d.htm http://www.freeserifsoftware.com/software/3dPlus/default.asp Quote ~Nate ___________________________________________ Please use the [vb]/[cs] tags on posted code. Tommi Laukkanen Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 Hi, I would suggest blender from http://www.blender3d.org. It is open source and has been around for long time. It has decent .x export if you take care you dont have "." in your object, texture etc. names. Even that bug might be fixed by now. You propably need to read through the tutorials to get hang of blender but after learning the basics it is solid tool for experts and hobbyists with low budget. best regards, Tommi Laukkanen Quote
