ashutosh9910 Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 Many of us by now know it but I just came to know this fact..... You can not create folder bearing the name "CON","PRN","AUX" etc in windows Microsoft says that these are reserved keywords for DOS and hense could not be used as folder names But then aren't COPY, PASTE, CD etc reserved keywords for DOS, then why can we make folders with such names Ashutosh Quote http://vyasashutosh.blogspot.com
Administrators PlausiblyDamp Posted October 20, 2005 Administrators Posted October 20, 2005 CON, PRN, AUX etc are not just command names they are aliases for hardware devices like the console or printer. i.e. under DOS (or a DOS prompt) you can do things like copy boot.ini PRN: to have a file sent to the printer. There is no problem with a folder that duplicates a command name though hence copy etc. are fine.
