EFileTahi-A Posted October 17, 2005 Posted October 17, 2005 (edited) Ok, I have a static IP and a shared folder on my home computer (I'm using Win XP Pro). How do I access this folder remotely? I mean, from my job computer for example... Would not just be needed to type the address on Windows Explorer like this: 'xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/forder_name'? Thank you Edited October 17, 2005 by EFileTahi-A Quote
mskeel Posted October 17, 2005 Posted October 17, 2005 Are you behind a router or firewall at home? You would need to enable file browsing or FTP via IIS or a third party server on your home machine. Just sharing the folder won't make it accesible via http or ftp. You will pretty much have to make a little mini-webiste or ftp share to access the files. An easier way might be to just remote in -- unless you need to files on your work comp for some reason. Quote
EFileTahi-A Posted October 17, 2005 Author Posted October 17, 2005 Nice, I used IIS and activated the FTP service and now it's working great! Thank you mskeel! Quote
