My boss has very kindly agreed to send me on the following courses....

Course 2310 (5 days) Developing ASP.Net Web Applications

Course 2389 (3 days) Programming with ADO.Net

Course 2640 (3 days) Upgrading Web Development Skill in ASP to ASP.NET

Exam 70-305

Course 2073 (5 days) Programming a SQL Server 2000 Database

Course 2071 (2 days) Querying a SQL Server 2000 Database

Exam 70-229

Could someone please help me by answering the following questions please?

Is there any order in which i should take the courses? Or does it not matter at all?

With 2005 coming out soon, it is worth waiting for that course? - Although atm i have never used it.

Also i want to take the exam, but i have never done plain old ASP - so i may find "Upgrading Web Development Skill in ASP to ASP.NET" rather hard, is that the case?

At what level are the courses based? ie: How well do i need to know the topic before i go on the course?

Thanks...

If you are doing the 2310 then there is no real reason to do the 2640 as they cover similar ground the 2640 is just shorter as it assumes more prior knowledge. I would personally recomend doing the 2310 before the 2389 as the 2310 will give you an introduction to ADO.Net as part of the course which makes the concepts covered in the 2389 easier to follow.

If you have little or no SQL experience then I would recomend you take the 2071 first as the 2073 assumes a working knowledge of T-SQL and as such doesn't take the time to cover the basic concepts.

In terms of prior knowledge the 2071 assumes very little, the 2073 more (see above point). The 2310 assumes very little web development but familiarity with one of more .Net languages (the course is run using C# and VB.Net) - if you can write a basic class and one or two methods you should be ok.

Regarding 2005 it really depends on the proposed timeframes, the product itself isn't due till November and the only available courses currently are designed in part as upgrading existing .Net skills to 2005...

Please could you also just tell me the order in which i should take the following courses..... If i can get my boss to agree :)

2524 - Developing XML Web Services Using ASP.NET - 3 days

2557 - Building COM+ Applications Using .NET Enterprice Services - 5 days

2663 - Programming with XML in the .NET Framework - 3 days

If i can do all of them i'm hoping i can do at least 1 and do the other 2 next year. 2524 would probably be the easiest to get signed off...

Thanks again.
