*Experts* Nerseus Posted September 15, 2005 *Experts* Posted September 15, 2005 I would try MS Access if I were you. There's also MSDE, but that's a bit more complex than I think you want right now. -ner Quote "I want to stand as close to the edge as I can without going over. ost Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 no i need DB complex than MS Access ! What is it about SQL-Server that makes you choose that in front of MS Access? Speed? Stored Procedures? User Roles? My question is. Why do you need SQL-Server? Quote
hamid Posted September 17, 2005 Author Posted September 17, 2005 i think that sql server is better than ms access in speed and stored procedures. i need db that dont need instalation in client pc and work like as sql Quote [ once4ever ]

Administrators PlausiblyDamp Posted September 18, 2005 Administrators Posted September 18, 2005 If you are running in a networked environment then SQL only needs to be installed on a server - not on each client PC. At the end of the day it has to be a trade of - if you need the extra features and power offered by a DB like SQL or Oracle then you have to accommodate the extra requirements and overheads. If you are after an easy deployment scenario then MS Access is a lot easier. What features do you specifically require that rule out Access? samsmithnz Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 MSDE is nice and fast, but is a real pain in the backside to deploy with applications. Access is easier, and will do everything that SQL can, once you've connected. The only thing I don't like about using access is that inital one second connection time... You'll have to trade these off. I'm interested to hear what features you need to use that are not in Access too. Quote Thanks Sam http://www.samsmith.co.nz
