Netnoobie Posted May 17, 2005 Posted May 17, 2005 Ok, so for the third time in a year I've tried to install SP 2. And for the third time I can't debug my .NET code for whatever reason. What is the workaround for this? I've checked my permissions, and nothing changes. VS.NET builds and then just seems to hang, and my exe is in the processes list of task manager. I can't believe that this is rare, but maybe it is...I have no idea at this point. Any help would be appreciated before I rollback this SP yet again. Bryan Quote
Machaira Posted May 17, 2005 Posted May 17, 2005 I'm running SP2 on both my laptop and desktop and I have no problems with it. I'm assuming the install runs correctly? Quote Here's what I'm up to.
Leaders snarfblam Posted May 17, 2005 Leaders Posted May 17, 2005 Have you googled this? A google search (for something like [.net "Windows Xp Sp2" debug]) revealed a variety of different (but appearently not too common) issues with SP2 and debugging in .Net, some of which were solved with Windows Update hotfixes. Have you used Windows Update to bring your computer up to date after installing SP2? Quote [sIGPIC]e[/sIGPIC]
sjn78 Posted May 21, 2005 Posted May 21, 2005 I had the same problem with SP2. I got fed up with it all so I formatted my computer. It all works fine when you install SP2 straight away after a re-install of XP. Probably doesnt solve your problem, but thats how I managed to get around it. Just going off on a tangent here, found this website to integrate SP2 with your exisiting XP cd. It will create a new XP cd for you with SP2 on it...saves installing SP2 after you put XP on. http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/windowsxp_sp2_slipstream.asp Its pretty handy if your like me and find you have to format your pc on a regular basis.
