Razor89 Posted April 7, 2005 Posted April 7, 2005 Hello, my name is Jimmy I have an idea for a project I would like to start a project in which I will need much help however I would like to see if there is enough potential intrest in starting a project of this size. Unlike the direct Unmanaged C to Managed C++ port of Quake 2 by Vertigo Software (http://www.vertigosoftware.com/Quake2.htm) I want to create a .NET wrapper around the Quake 2 Engine so that it can be accessed from C#, J# or VB.NET (or any other .NET language for that matter), the only problem is that I'm exactly what you might call skilled in C++ and I don't know much about the Quake code talk about creating a managed wrapper. In a nutshell, the purpose of such a project would aim to create a set of classes and other things as needed that would grant a great amount of access to the Quake engine thus we have a first-person-game-engine (if you wanna use that term) for DotNET. I myself am skilled in PHP, Visual Basic, and DotNET (VB.NET and a little bit of C#), I have used computers for a long time so I pretty much know the ins and outs of how they work and I have experience in both the Windows and Linux operating systems. I also have a little bit of experience with the Half-Life [1] SDK. Is this possible to do this with Quake? Thanks! Quote
