Installing .Net Framwork on drive other than C:\

Searched the web for an answer to this and this is about the best up-to-date place I could find in order to ask my question. So my apologies if I fell into the "wrong forum".

Anyway this is my trouble:

I don't have .Net Framework V *.* installed. I need to install V1.1 just to get a couple of proggies to work.

I have a partitioned drive with C:\ being Windows 98 SE and E:\ being Windows XP. Build 2600

I do all my work on XP and so I work on drive E:\.

I have this feeling that the auto-installer for the .Net Framework is looking for all my XP information on C:\ as I continuously recieve an error:

Microsoft .Net Framwork Setup failed. If this problem continues, contact Product Support Services.

Any ideas as to how I can get this thing installed without have to flop my drive letters about like a looney?

Thanks for any expedient responses.

This has nothing to do with XP being on the E drive as this is this drive that you boot for XP. I have many partitions and never had a problem. As long as you keep the framework in the boot drive it should work.

Check that you don't have any problems with MSI, maybe by re-installing it. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=5fbc5470-b259-4733-a914-a956122e08e8&DisplayLang=en
