AaronR1074 Posted October 14, 2004 Posted October 14, 2004 OK here is what is happening in a Step-by-Step scenario. I have Windows XP and an EVGA Nvidia 6800GT 1) I load the DXsetup.exe file 2) I accept the Licenseing agreement 3) I click "Next" to start the installation 4) The installer initializes then begins to extract the files. 5) I get an error window that says "DirectX did not copy a file". 6) I click OK, and it says "Instalation failed" OK, I have been to like 20 different forums on this issue. You seem to be the techie gurus here. I REALLY hope there is an easy solution. Am I the only person in the world who has this problem? This issue is driving me insane. Thanks for your help Quote

Thanks for your help Installing DirectX runtimes? Or installing the SDK? Either way, I would search the Microsoft Knowledge Base for your solution. It seems like a wierd enough error that it might be covered in their knowledge center. Also...do you have service pack 2? That could cause problems also.. -_- Quote
ThePentiumGuy Posted October 14, 2004 Posted October 14, 2004 Odd, it could be some corrupted files.. try redownloading it (sucks if you have 56k :() Also, try following the instructions here: http://www.xtremedotnettalk.com/showthread.php?t=87678 and see if that works, -The Pentium Guy Quote My VB.NET Game Programming Tutorial Site (GDI+, Direct3D, Tetris [coming soon], a full RPG.... you name it!) vbprogramming.8k.com My Project (Need VB.NET Programmers) http://workspaces.gotdotnet.com/ResolutionRPG
Mykre Posted October 19, 2004 Posted October 19, 2004 (edited) With each MS Setup program there is a way to force the setup proggy to display the logs for the install. First Off I would run the install with the logs running. It could be as simple as not enough permissions to install to cirtain directories. If you are only a powewr user on that machine try upping the permissions to Administrator on the local machine and install again. If you have run the logs and are still having problems send the setup loggs to here and I will look at them for you to give you a heads up...
