Netnoobie Posted February 6, 2003 Posted February 6, 2003 I've been using the Webmatrix tool for my ASP.NET programming because it seems like a "lite" version of VS.NET. I get that with this tool I can't do code behind and all that (I'm working my way up there), but will I not be able to do many of the things ASP.NET should do because of this? I'm just trying to make sure that I don't spend too long on the wrong path. Regards. Quote
Cywizz Posted February 6, 2003 Posted February 6, 2003 To be honest, I can't see anyone comparing webmatrix with vs.net. It's just not comparable. A found a good artical @ http://www.angrycoder.com/article.aspx?cid=10&y=2003&m=1&d=25 It is,though , an excellent community project, a first for ms technology.. Quote Howzit??
Moderators Robby Posted February 6, 2003 Moderators Posted February 6, 2003 I couldn't/wouldn't want to do a large project without Code-Behind. Quote Visit...Bassic Software
Netnoobie Posted February 6, 2003 Author Posted February 6, 2003 Thanks for both your replies. I've been using it an as easy way to generate aspx pages without having to set up virtual directories and all that. But this is shaping up to be a large project, so it looks like it's time to use VS.Net full time. Many thanks. Quote
wyrd Posted February 6, 2003 Posted February 6, 2003 Web Matrix is for those people who don't want to fork over the $$ for VS.NET. :) Quote Gamer extraordinaire. Programmer wannabe.
Netnoobie Posted February 6, 2003 Author Posted February 6, 2003 Yeah, I see that now after converting my aspx pages in VS.NET and making them code behind. It wasn't too painful, now I just have to get this darn thing up and running. Quote
danomatic Posted February 7, 2003 Posted February 7, 2003 Once you have used VS.Net, you'll never want to go back. It's worth the investment. dan Quote
