.net fake oems

hi, i was wondering if anyone knows if http://www.oem-software.biz/?pid=8996&cart=&page=studiodotnet is a legal oem or whether is a pirate being disguised as a oem

Are you currently in a learning institution? Lots of them are members of the MS alliance thing. They alllow you to use the software for free while you are a student. Ask your institution.

Students get discounts for student versions of software which do not allow liscense for distrobution or making money off of it.

 

VS.Net Student is $200.

 

This site says they sell valid liscensed software (OEM) for less than student prices. Kinda like when you get a dell, you say "$100 extra for MS Office? 100!? What a ripp off!!" Then you go into the store and see it on sale retailing for 350-450.

 

They're basically saying that they get the software at wholesale OEM prices and pass it along to you at hardly any markup.

 

It looks like a scam to me. When I was looking up online there was a lot of people throwing out random ideas ranging from it's the Russian Mafia (I could care less who is selling the software. If it's legit and legal and the Russian Mafia can beat CompUSA, the Ruskies can have my money :p ) to stolen goods or flat out piracy (like those "buy your backups of software you own for $20 per CD").

Note, that you will not be able to register the software with the manufacturer and get their support, but we will do our best to support you any way possible. This includes providing different updates and service packs. However some updates will still be available from manufacturers, in fact most of them.

 

 

It's pirated. Not to mention OEM software is only legal to be sold with new hardware.

I just recalled that in addition to VS.Net, there is VB.Net, which comes in a package with books quite often.

 

I got a copy of VB.net standard from work, then in a package of a book to teach me vb.net. Then another for filling out the questionaires with that movie theatre styled VB videos on microsoft.com and it looks like my MCAD package is going to come with VB.Net standard and VS.Net Trial on DVD.

 

I feel like a VB.Net collector or something :p

What used to really piss me off was people who brought the VS.NET student edition for $100-$200 or were given it for their uni course, and then tried to sell it on the Amazon.com marketplace (amazons Ebay equivalend) for $500+.

 

I don't know how many times I wrote to amazon complaining...

I got .NET for free when i was at uni. Along with SQL Server, XP Pro, Visio, Exchange Server and a whole host of other stuff. All legal and everything. :) I dont think i am suppose to be using it still now i have graduated, but hey.....

I'm pretty sure so long as you're using it to learn and not to profit it's ok.
