hey,

i looked into visual basic forum the other day(WOW they got lots of members, they even got their own .net section!, not just for vb, for C# as well!),

they seem to have a 'new' random thoughts section -

one section ("old") is for computer/programming related random thoughts

another section is for random thoughts.. but this time, its a post whatever you want, doesnt have to be computer related random thoughts(forum rules still apply, no spamming, warez..etc)

just to give you somethin to think about

Thats what this Random Thoughts is. Just anything.

I can't see why adding another section to further dilute a slow topic would be a help or improvement in any way.

What I DO like that they do over there, is make use of subforums. You go into a category and there are sub categories to further break down a topic. Makes it cleaner for those finding answers and looking to answer, but still keeps all of those posts in the same overall category.

While one can get just about any .Net answer at the VB site, I believe the primary intention of the VB.Net forums there is to help people transition between VB and VB.Net. Also with the combined popularity of VB and .Net it's unavoidable that we (I say loosely as I'm a mod "over there") have a VB.Net section to compliment our VB focus. Many general questions get asked and answered but the idea isn't to compete with this site. I often link to this site for non VB.Net .Net questions or when I know something has been well covered "over here", etc.

Also both sites have a strong sense of community - so a long time user of the VB6 site might want to ask VB.Net questions there rather than here (although I often see questions posted in both places) - and I imagine some folks who are partial to this site would prefer to ask whatever questions they have here. As long as people get the answers they seek it's all good to me.

We don't have a C# forum "over there" - it's mostly VB.Net oriented...but since I do .Net in C# and we have a few other VB6ers migrating into C# the occasional C# reference does come up.

Cheers,

Paul
