VB6's compatibility with XP pro

Hi! I'm a novice programmer here. I wrote a program using vb6 and it runs well on all Win2000 systems. However, when I use its installation disk on WinXP, i couldn't even finish the installation. Gave funny/different errors each time I try to install. I suspect a Dll compatibility problem. Can anyone enlighten me on this? Or give suggestions as to what i can do about it? I need to get the program to work on XP given the latter's increasing usage.
