hey guys,

whenever i use .net (2002) and try to type in some text, i can only see half of it (either the top half or the bottom), and in order to get aroudn that i have to select all and delselect all. but the error wont really go away..

i could also just close the file and reopen the file and then the error will be back after some time

im running a 3.0 ghz + 1 gb DDR ram... so there's practically no reason for this to be my computer's fault. i beleive this is a .net ide issue

does anyone have a solution for this? (and yep i tried closing Dynamic Help)

I sometimes get a similar problem in VB.Net 2002 Standard, but with mine, if I start typing a word, maybe the first three of fours letter will appear and from then on in, the rest of the line doesn't show. But if I do a save with an invisible part of the line, next time i open it they are there.

Best fix I found was to restart of VS!!

Just restarting it works for me. Sometimes will also have the autocomplete not working and it won't recognise keywords eg, i type in dim and it should change it to Dim, but it won't.

This only happens once or twice a week, so it's not too much of a bother.

I'm using vb2003 Standard and vs2003 and I've had no such problems in the least.

my gawd. I'd hope a reinstall wouldn't be needed. MS has perfected compression to some aweful extent that it takes about 8x as long to install vb.net than it did to install any other full app (even multi CD apps) short of windows XP itself. I'd rather have it all on one or two dvds and not nearly as compressed...

Yeh' date=' you have 2003 where myself and ThePentiumGuy have 2002. May be version specific.[/quote']

That was my thought.

Does MS come out with service packs or patches for VS (2002 in particular)? I recall vs6 having a nessicary patch or something.

I have had VB.Standard (2002) for about 18 months and in that time there hasn't been any updates.....except the new framework which is useless for me anyhow.

BTW, I am using the check updates in the IDE menus, so I don't know if there are any other patches around, probably 3rd party ones that fix some stuff.

they really need an update, but i dont think MS would 'suport' their old software (im guessing that to them, 2002 is old)

for 2002, they need to fix this error, and other minor issues such as the absence of Form1_MouseScroll (or somethign like that) from the little dropdown menu

I thought it had mouse scroll (if your talking about a wheel button mouse). I have used mouse scrolling on panels (when scrollbars are enabled), whether or not its directly for the form or not, I haven't tried.
