*Experts* Nerseus Posted January 29, 2003 *Experts* Posted January 29, 2003 How about a Preview button on the bottom of a thread? As it is now, I always have to click the "Post Reply" link to enter what I want so that I can preview it before posting. Not sure how hard this is to add or if it's even possible but I'd like it :) -ner Quote "I want to stand as close to the edge as I can without going over. *Gurus* Thinker Posted January 29, 2003 *Gurus* Posted January 29, 2003 The quick reply box is itself a hack. Not sure how easy it would be to hack the hack (I am guessing it would be a pain). Quote Posting Guidelines
*Experts* Volte Posted January 29, 2003 *Experts* Posted January 29, 2003 Well, it wouldn't be all that hard (just a small template change), but the preview would just take you to the 'New Reply' screen as it would be if you clicked it there, with the preview at the top. It would take some major hacking to make it show the preview in any sort of customized spot Quote
Leaders lebb Posted January 29, 2003 Leaders Posted January 29, 2003 I really can't see that it's needed; the Post Reply button is there for such bells and whistles as previews and attachments; the quick reply box doesn't seem to need them... IMHO, of course. Quote Laura "Science without religion is lame. Religion without science is blind." -- Albert Einstein
*Experts* Volte Posted January 29, 2003 *Experts* Posted January 29, 2003 Oh well, vB3 has a nifty WYSIWYG posting interface (optional, of course) like a RichTextBox, so that will pretty much eliminate the need for a Preview Post button at all. Quote
Administrators AWS Posted January 29, 2003 Administrators Posted January 29, 2003 Oh well, vB3 has a nifty WYSIWYG posting interface (optional, of course) like a RichTextBox, so that will pretty much eliminate the need for a Preview Post button at all. Which will be shut off unless they change the time it takes for everything to load. Last time I tried over there it had to load over 100 objects and took over 5 secs. If a 56k user tried to load it they would be able to have lunch while they waited. There are a few features that they have added that will probably be shut off. The reason I want to upgrade to it is not because of the new features for users it's because it will be more efficient with less querries and the admin section will make it easier to work with. The one user feature that I look forward to is threaded view. You will once again be able to know exactly who is replying to what you post. I just hope we get picked as one of the beta sites. *Experts* Volte Posted January 29, 2003 *Experts* Posted January 29, 2003 Wow, that does take a long time; I have it turned off by default over on vBulletin.com, but I just turned it on and you're right; it took 9 seconds to load for me on DSL. Being chosen as a beta site certainly would be neat though. :) Quote
*Gurus* divil Posted January 30, 2003 *Gurus* Posted January 30, 2003 It shouldn't, their programmers must suck. I've done quite a few WYSIWYG inputs for site content management, and it needn't take any longer to load than a conventional form, bar a few lines of javascript. *Experts* Volte Posted January 30, 2003 *Experts* Posted January 30, 2003 Heh, you're just bitter because you hate PHP. :p Quote
*Gurus* divil Posted January 30, 2003 *Gurus* Posted January 30, 2003 Regardless of how much PHP sucks, that has nothing to do with presenting a WYSIWYG input on an HTML page :P Quote MVP, Visual Developer - .NET Now you see why evil will always triumph - because good is dumb.
