Connecting to a windows Share?

Hi, I want to know how to connect to a windows share, given a username and password for the share, in vb6 i could do WNetAddConnection2 and make a connection that way (API call) does this still work in VB.NET

(I'm converting my project to VB.NET so i can take advantage of multithreading, will i have any problems with this and multithreading?)
