Mamtha1234 Posted March 2, 2004 Posted March 2, 2004 Hi, I would appreciate if somebody can give the link to free vb to vb.net skills updation. Thanks Mamtha Quote
rifter1818 Posted March 2, 2004 Posted March 2, 2004 vb6? vb6 - vb.net is built in... File -> Open -> Convert its not great but oh well.... Quote
techmanbd Posted March 2, 2004 Posted March 2, 2004 and if I am correct, converting from VB6 to VB.net programs can only be done in the STudio edition and not the standard edition Quote Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever. Gandhi
Administrators PlausiblyDamp Posted March 2, 2004 Administrators Posted March 2, 2004 Too be honest the upgrade wizard isn't worth the time and effort it takes to run, search these forums and you will find very few people with anything good to say about it. Moderators Robby Posted March 2, 2004 Moderators Posted March 2, 2004 My suggestion is learn .NET and do it properly yourself without using any upgrade wizards. Nothing good will come from any upgrader. Quote Visit...Bassic Software
rifter1818 Posted March 3, 2004 Posted March 3, 2004 True the Converter isnt much good But it was the answer to his question. I too dont like the converted. Project 1000 lines created 300 Errors, thats almost 1 in 3 lines! Quote
Moderators Robby Posted March 3, 2004 Moderators Posted March 3, 2004 Even if it had zero errors, the code that the wizard generates is plain crap and does not adhere to .NET concepts and methods. Quote Visit...Bassic Software
georgepatotk Posted March 3, 2004 Posted March 3, 2004 rifter1818, i had started to shifted from vb6.0 to .dot two weeks ago. my way on learning is by writing a new program using .net. solve problem one by one. When u are confuse on how certain things are done in .net, you could try this way: do a simple program in vb6.0, save it, and open it with studio.net. convert it, then find the way out. maybe this is not a good way, but, it make senses. kas Posted March 3, 2004 Posted March 3, 2004 Unless you are one of the (minority of?) VBOld developers who code using all the OOP principles that are available in VB6, I would say you should forget conversion - start over learning the .Net way. You'll have to do it in the end if you want decent .Net apps Quote
