samsmithnz Posted February 13, 2004 Author Posted February 13, 2004 What they keep forgetting to mention is that Windows 2000 is actually Windows version 5.0 and XP is 5.1, so if you have the source to Windows NT/2K, chances are, most of that code is still the same in XP... Personally I have no interest what so ever viewing Windows source code. I was mildly tempted to look at Half Life 2, (but resisted any urges of course) but I know that Windows will be a huge jumbled code base that I wouldn't have a hope in hell of understanding. ROFL I'll like to see Windows' source code, will be fun trying to understand what, how and where they do things. My computer with WXP Pro have never crashed yet, I've Office 2003, VS.NET 2003, a couple games (simple games), but no, never had a problem with my Windows, and one of the unix servers in the company keeps crashing everyday, DOS and many other things, pretty funny, they're changing it to a new server. Companies won't want you (even accidentally) using techniques garnered from that source as it could mean the end of their business if Microsoft finds out.
