cam292 Posted January 29, 2004 Posted January 29, 2004 I am just about to begin a project involving some VB6 libraries, but I do not have a MSoft IDE on my machine. Can I use the .NET IDE or should I install VB6.0 and SP5? Any tips and hints for avoiding any compatability issues? I guess that the .NET IDE is an improvement on 6.0? Thanks Chris Quote
cam292 Posted January 29, 2004 Author Posted January 29, 2004 The project will include some COM components and ASP. I have not touched VB for about 3 years, but have 3+ years of Java and C++. Quote

cam292 Posted January 29, 2004 Author Posted January 29, 2004 So it looks like sticking to VB6.0. then to save issues! Quote
NK2000 Posted January 29, 2004 Posted January 29, 2004 if you know java and c++ then you should switch to c# probably :) Quote
MTSkull Posted January 30, 2004 Posted January 30, 2004 I use both vb6 and .net, which seem to cohabitate on the same machine with no problems. I only use vb6 if someone holds a gun to my head however. Best to code in VB6 for 6 apps and code in .net for .net apps. You will save yourself a big head ache in the long run.
