bungpeng Posted January 16, 2004 Posted January 16, 2004 May I know what is the best HTML Editor to generate HTML pages use by "HTML Help Workshop"? What do you think? I can't use MS Word because the HTML file generated by MS Word is quite 'complicated' (include XML...) and not recognise by HTML Help Workshop... Of course there are plenty of HTML editor available. I just need your opinion of which one is more suitable for you Quote
tate Posted January 16, 2004 Posted January 16, 2004 I have been using MS FrontPage for several years now and feel it doesn a pretty good job. Quote
bungpeng Posted January 16, 2004 Author Posted January 16, 2004 Did you use HTML Help Workshop? because it just support the basic HTML element but all all those fantastic features, so I don't think the HTML file by MS Frontpage can use in HTML Help Workshop Quote
*Experts* DiverDan Posted January 16, 2004 *Experts* Posted January 16, 2004 There are lots of Help File programs that take all the work out of Help.chm files. They range in pricing quite a bit but all are capable of index searching via key words, Table of Contents generation, etc., and intergrate prefectly with the Dot Net languages. *Experts* DiverDan Posted January 16, 2004 *Experts* Posted January 16, 2004 I personnally use HelpTron by Theta-Software. it has all the features of the "high price" programs but at a fraction of the cost. George Katsabouris, its author, is very helpful and responsive to any questions you might have. Divil, How can note pad or Visual Studio develop a table of contents, key word search, or compress anything in a .chm format? How can they intergrate images, formated text and hyperlinks and bookmarks in an attractive manner? Keep in mind that some help files are very large (one of my program's help file is currently 14 megs uncompressed - 3.5 megs compressed). I personally think it's best to use the program for its intended purpose. Quote Member, in good standing, of the elite fraternity of mentally challenged programmers. Dolphins Software
bungpeng Posted January 17, 2004 Author Posted January 17, 2004 Currently I am using VS.NET to develop my HTML page, but it is not quite convenient for me. I just need to generate the HTML file for my Help file, so I just need a HTML editor. Quote
samsmithnz Posted January 17, 2004 Posted January 17, 2004 RoboHelp is pretty good. unfortunetly I don't kno of any free/cheap HTML Help generators that are available. I had a quick look on Google and didn't find anything there. I just think that there is a hole in the market here... Quote Thanks Sam http://www.samsmith.co.nz
