iebidan Posted January 14, 2004 Posted January 14, 2004 I've been playing SOCOM II Online for 3 days now (I got my Lt Commander rank last night :)) but I think I must quit, I've only slept for 9 hours in 3 days, I'm addicted now to this game. Anyone else playing it???? maybe we can meet online and have a couple matchs ;) Quote Fat kids are harder to kidnap
samsmithnz Posted January 14, 2004 Posted January 14, 2004 I love RPG's, but I refuse to play them online for this very reason... it would never end and my wife would kill me (its bad enough playing Call of Duty online, Knights of the Old Republic and Civilization 3 (STILL)). Quote Thanks Sam http://www.samsmith.co.nz
Administrators PlausiblyDamp Posted January 14, 2004 Administrators Posted January 14, 2004 Same here - when dealing with people online there is always that urge for a few minutes more.... Also if you want to stop is inviting people to join you in a game really a good plan :D Quote Posting Guidelines FAQ Post Formatting Intellectuals solve problems; geniuses prevent them. -- Albert Einstein
hog Posted January 15, 2004 Posted January 15, 2004 He is living in denial:) He says he want to quit, but deep down he knows "oh just five more minutes":):) Quote My website
iebidan Posted January 15, 2004 Author Posted January 15, 2004 LOL, yeah, to identify an addiction, the first symptom is denial, and the "5 more minutes" turn to be 2 more hours. "Hello my name is iebidan, an I'm a onlinegamerholic" OK, I have a problem, but this is fun!!!!!!!!! Quote Fat kids are harder to kidnap

But that was in another life:( Now I watch in amazement at my son playing XBox live with all the new games and think....oh to be there again:( I have the odd go at Crimson Skies, basically cos it's about the only one where I can hit somethin:) Quote My website

*Gurus* divil Posted January 19, 2004 *Gurus* Posted January 19, 2004 Ah, those were indeed the days. I spent more time designing and working on Duke3D levels than I did programming, surfing or chatting back in those days. Hmm, I probably still have them somewhere... Hog: I have an xBox, but I'd still rather play Duke3D, Transport Tycoon or other old favourites of mine than most of the games I've seen for it! iebidan Posted January 22, 2004 Author Posted January 22, 2004 oh yeah, those games, but you actual online games are cool too, you must try some of them, if you've XBox, try MechAssault for example or Unreal T., have PS2??? Socom II, GC stinks Quote Fat kids are harder to kidnap
wyrd Posted January 22, 2004 Posted January 22, 2004 MA or UT? Ick. Rainbow Six 3 is where it's at. :P Quote Gamer extraordinaire. Programmer wannabe.
*Experts* Nerseus Posted January 22, 2004 *Experts* Posted January 22, 2004 Where's the online versions of the TRUE classics? That's what I'd like to see. What if I want to go head to head in Gauntlet, or Joust, or even Ms. Pacman? Why has no one done that? I know there are a few ports out there, but no one has setup a master server. Maybe Gamespy could hook up with Atari and get us some classics, playable online! Hook it into Paypal and charge a quarter a game or a small monthly fee. (drooling...) Donkey Kong... -Nerseus Quote "I want to stand as close to the edge as I can without going over. Out on the edge you see all the kinds of things you can't see from the center." - Kurt Vonnegut
*Experts* Bucky Posted January 22, 2004 *Experts* Posted January 22, 2004 I want to see multiplayer GameBoy games that you can play online through an emulator or some type of cable, and I want Nintendo to officially support it right now! Actually, this wouldn't be too hard to program with a Winsock, a Comm control, and a spliced link cable, now, would it? Hmm, ideas, ideas.... Anyway, I'm also a Halo junkie at the moment (and I'm in MA! What a coincidence!) Battlefield 1942 is another one of my favs. Quote "Being grown up isn't half as fun as growing up These are the best days of our lives" -The Ataris, In This Diary
*Experts* mutant Posted January 22, 2004 *Experts* Posted January 22, 2004 Nerseus, Gauntlet is truly a classic. I still have it somewhere buried with my NES and Final Fantasy 1 :). As of right now I really got into Dark Age Of Camelot. Its a very nice MMORPG. Quote
samsmithnz Posted January 22, 2004 Posted January 22, 2004 Atari released a package not too long ago with 100 games in it, but they all sucked. What you need to do is convert the old game, using new technology, so that you can play joust against other players, but it still looks the same (on maybe make the resolution a bit better, make it look a little bit better than it was). joust would be cool on a network... Quote Thanks Sam http://www.samsmith.co.nz
wyrd Posted January 22, 2004 Posted January 22, 2004 Nerseus: Couldn't Diablo be considered an offshoot of what Gauntlet was? mutant: Great MMORPG. Although I preferred it before they started adding the PVP rewards. I mean, nothing wrong with rewards so long as they're balanced, but the skills they added for that threw everything out of wack. :( Probably fixed by now, but it was a mess back in the day (about 6 months after release is when they were added). *Experts* mutant Posted January 23, 2004 *Experts* Posted January 23, 2004 I haven't played for as long to have explored everything, but in my opinion its faily well balanced now. :) Quote
wyrd Posted January 23, 2004 Posted January 23, 2004 I'm looking forward to World of Warcraft and Guild Wars. :) I'm sure most are familiar with WoW, but for those who don't know GW is being made by ex-Blizzard employees. iebidan Posted January 23, 2004 Author Posted January 23, 2004 HUM, I can't wait 'til Final Fantasy XI is here. If I'm a junkie with SOCOM II, can't imagine if I'll be able to sleep with FFXI :) Quote Fat kids are harder to kidnap
