Hi, I'm learning DirectX and have discovered that apparently you can import a mesh into VB.NET for use in DX9.

Does anyone know if any of these files are compatible?

3D studio .3ds

WaveFront .obj

Vertex .vtx

C source file .c

anim8or .an8

I realise .c should be, one is attached, but have lnog since forgotten C and not sure how to convert it for VB use?

Any help please??

DirectX uses .X files as its format. All the major 3D graphics designer programs should have the ability to export to an .X file, or at least have plugins for it.

there is a lot of talk on the anim8or site about conv3ds.exe a directx utility for converting .3ds files to .x

Is this no longer available with directx9 and if not do you know of a replacement?

One thing i found more helpfull than that converter

Was the panda plugin for 3ds max 5 it allows you to export directly from 3d studio max and i like the interface for it better and find it easier to use, Hope this helps someone out there :D Harry
