Ashon Posted November 30, 2003 Posted November 30, 2003 I'd like to know if it is possible to suspend or turn off the monitor in VB.net? If someone could give me some pointers or atleast a place to start researching I'd be grateful. As it is I dont think I'm even searching using the right terms Quote

Ashon Posted December 1, 2003 Author Posted December 1, 2003 well, I'm living with some friends for the next month or so until my apartment is ready in the city I just moved in. I love them to death, but my computer is mine, and I do not wish to see others in my computer. I use 2k, and I could lock the box, but thats not really the solution I wish to employ, I use remote access from work to access my box while I'm away, and locking the box removes that option from me, but if I built a program that would simply shut off power to the monitor until a certain key combo is hit, it would provide me with atleast reasonable compremise and security. I was playing around last night and found out that when I enter my RA stuff the monitor will turn itself back on from power saver, so I'd actually need to be able to completly shut down power to the monitor, and im not sure what the fesibility of that is, it is a soft power switch but I've never seen a computer completely make a monitor power down. Jay1b Posted December 2, 2003 Posted December 2, 2003 Would a Passworded ScreenSaver do the trick? Or alternatively politely ask them not to use it :) Quote
