Klogg Posted October 29, 2003 Posted October 29, 2003 When I try to install the components included in the Visual Basic.NET Resource Kit, it says that I need Internet Information Server 4.0 or higher. Can I get this program for free? If so, where? I found out that it comes with Windows XP Pro, but I have XP Home. Quote Take a look at my programs. Go to my web site.
AndreRyan Posted October 29, 2003 Posted October 29, 2003 It only runs on XP Pro(or 2000 or NT), I believe. To get it, install XP Pro, go into Add/Remove Windows Components and tick "Internet Information Services" Quote .Net allows software to be written for any version of Windows and not break like Unmanaged applications unless using Unmanaged procedures like APIs. If your program uses large amounts of memory but releases it when something else needs it, then what's the problem?

*Experts* Volte Posted October 29, 2003 *Experts* Posted October 29, 2003 IIS 4 comes with Windows 2000. If you don't have 2K or higher, you can't use the .NET IDE anyway, so it really doesn't matter. However, if you have Windows 2K+, IIS is on the CD. Quote
Klogg Posted October 30, 2003 Author Posted October 30, 2003 I said that I have XP Home. Is it included in that? Quote Take a look at my programs. Go to my web site.
*Experts* Nerseus Posted October 30, 2003 *Experts* Posted October 30, 2003 XP Home does not come with IIS. I haven't checked if it will work, but MS used to have a "Personal Web Server" that acted like a mini-webserver. You might look into that. -nerseus Quote "I want to stand as close to the edge as I can without going over.
