When App runs, it seems to want to re-install something else. Has anyone had this?

When I run an app after it is already installed, the program will sometimes come up searching for the “app.msi” file. I think it is looking for some additional information as if the program recognizes that it needs something from the install files. I have had Microsoft Office do the exactly the same thing before. I don’t know where to begain to solve this problem as I don’t know what it is looking for…… Hoping that some of you guys have run across this issue before.

I'm not sure but I think you have to update your windows installer

Well, if you have VS.NET 2003 it will be updated to ver 2.0, if not you can dowload from MSDN page http://search.microsoft.com/search/results.aspx?qu=Windows+Installer&View=msdn&st=b&c=1&s=1

Thanks, I have VS 03. I've never had this happen on my system, but some of my users contact me about this problem. I have another system with win2k also and it did it once after doing an upgrade to the app in question. ( let the app installer upgrade the app that was already there)

PS. Why did this thread get moved to the "Random Thoughts" section? This isn't random thoughts. This is a problem with a VB desktop program. Strange move??????
