what language is the best for me to go on

Depends what you are after?

If pure gaming most will say C++ although VB.NET is cool for gaming too.

Haven't really looked into the other .NET languages, VB.NET is very easy to get to grips with.

Can't comment on the others, altho pre .NET C and C++ were a lot harder than VB.

Well, C# is cool enough to do some development, a mixture between VB and C++ will give you what you need and want

I'd suggest VB.NET.

It's easy to learn and can be very powerful. There are plenty of tutorials online (search Google) to get you started, or get a book at your local bookstore/library.

At this point, I wouldn't worry about the question "which is best" since most of the answers aren't going to make sense. If you had a few years experience programming, then maybe more investigation would be needed.

I too think VB.NET would be a good starting point, at least it has been for me.

I realize there are differences between C# and VB.NET coding, however, if you learn one then the other will not be so hard to learn, at least not from what I have gathered after looking into things.

As to what is the 'best' one to learn, well a lot of that answer will hinge on exactly what it is you are trying to do and how well the strong points of each language line up with your goals.

For me, I am working on learning VB.NET now and will later pick up C# as well. I'm a programmer by trade and in this age of advancing technology it is pretty much given that you will need to learn several languages over a career lifetime. Nothing wrong with that as I've always liked learning and exploring what is out there. I suppose if anything this could be seen as an adventure and I'm just exploring my way though it. :)

Pick up another C# for what you can do with vb.net? Doing this just to make your brain busier and heavier. If you want something more advance and limitless then c++ or c++.net is the best choice. I'm planning to learn c++.net soon.
