What is a "stub" message box?

I've never heard that word befor and I get curious...

So, I found out that there's 2 meanings for this, the JAVA's and the Microsoft's...

JAVA's: mean the thing on the client side that looks like the object.
MS's: means the oposit... for the client size MS called Proxy !
