Hello everyone...

this is my first post over here at .net forums but am a member at the joined site visualbasicforum.com

I am just enquiring if i buy a copy of Visual Basic.net 2003 standard edition, does it come with a help file such as MSDN? or does it come with MSDN?

The other thing, how long do you expect VB will keep going before people switch to .net

Thanks

Yes, it comes will all the help files and references you will need :).
In my opinion, VB6 won't keep going long once people see all the advantages .NET gives over VB6.

Thanks. I thought VB wouldnt be long but i wasnt sure on the help file part...im going to buy a copy soon then.

Thanks

You might consider VB.Net Professional over VB.Net Standard. Vb.Net Professional includes may features that are sadly lacking in VB.Net Standard, like the ability to make dll's, something I really miss.

Can I actually buy just VB.net Profressional on its own? I know I can get standard but have been recommended professional by a few people and I dont really need Visual Studio.net professional.

There was never a "Visual Basic .NET Professional Edition".

The following versions of Visual Studio .NET exist:

  • Microsoft Visual Basic .NET Standard
  • Microsoft Visual C# .NET Standard
  • Microsoft Visual C++ .NET Standard
  • Microsoft Visual J# .NET Standard
  • Microsoft Visual Studio .NET Professional
  • Microsoft Visual Studio .NET Enterprise Developer
  • Microsoft Visual Studio .NET Enterprise Architect

My mistake, I guess I miss read the package...which happens often.

I wish MS would package the Standard versions with 100% functionalility for each individual language, because $500.00 compared to $100.00 is quite a difference and definately falls into the category of forced over purchasing.

I know. For Visual Studio.Net its £900 in the UK, and for Visual Basic.net on its own only £88? Slight difference.
