using Comm Port

Among the 101 VB.NET samples I’m interested to “VB.NET - Framework - Using the COM Port in VB.NET”(see attachment).
I would like your help to modify the following:
A Timer is used. It depends on it to do the reading of the response. I don’t want this because if the data arrives before, I would not like to wait until the time expires …If we add an event… I don’t know how to manipulate it…

I have a problem:
I don't take response from the COM port. I don't take OK or ERROR but only "Error occurred Read Timeout. data fetched: " when I click on Rx button.Why?Please help me again!!!!
