Sockets based chat application

Hi
I want to create a sockets based chat and shared whiteboard web-based application in .Net. I want the following things to be implemented.

Easy deployment.
Easy to upgrade.
Socket based.
Loaded in Browser just like ActiveX control (as Msn.com chat)

Which language should be used. is there any way that the user doesnot need to install .Net framework.

I dont believe Msn chat is socket based. Web based chat is done through http. Use Asp.net. Look online for http chat samples.

HTTP is just a protocol that runs over TCP/IP -- which means sockets, IPs, and ports.

Syntax wise -- HttpHandler versus Socket

The HttpHandler is just a .NET Framework class that handles a lot of the low-level TCP/IP socket communication stuff for you -- meaning you do have to mess with interpreting the HTTP. You could make a chat application over HTTP, but I don't think that is what's going on with the MSN chat.
