Saving docs

We have a vendor app written in PowerBuilder. One feature is that users can browse to a document, for example, "txt" or "word doc", click save and this document is saved to the database. The field in the database is TEXT.

How can I do this in .Net? what do I need to use to save documents to the database? Do I need to look into Steam Object??

Any ideas/leads to get me going would be great..
