Remoting in VB 2005 - Where to start?

I want to learn about remoting in VB 2005, both between applications on the same machine and over the internet (sending strings, commands and files). I read some where that ".NET 2.0" introduced a new protocol for the communication between applications on the same computer. Any ideas where I could start? Maybe there is a good book you can recommend (not an old book conserning .NET 1)?

I would also like to know if remoting work on VB 2005 Express, or do I need a professional version?
 
from looking at the unanswered threads around here... im thinking most contributors do not take kindly to broad questions that can be looked up on [insert search engine]

if you have a specific question I'm sure someone will get around to it though
