I've been trying to do an installer package and it keeps saying that wmp.dll is protected and can't be used. It also says that wmp.dll might not have all its dependencies. How do I fix this?

IIRC wmp.dll is installed with the Microsoft's Media Player and to ensure the correct version and all it's dependencies are installed you should just install the correct version of Media Player.

I've not checked but the EULA might actually prohibit you distributing the DLL itself - a lot of the MS stuff requires you install the associated application rather than attempting to put the individual DLLs on the target machine.

How would I go abouot installing the associate application?

That is up to the end user. Microsoft owns the copyright to wmp.dll and they are in charge of distributing it. If your application depends on that library then the user must install the application to which it belongs. All you can really do is add the application as a system requirement and/or provide a link to Microsoft.com where the user can download and install the application.

so, I need to tell them to install Windows Media Player? But I've worked at a computer that has Windows Media Player installed and it still makes no sound.
