Problems with spaces in a string field

I'm trying to fill a list box in a columnar format. When I move my data to a single string field (to eventually move into the list box) all of my spaces are stripped out. I've tried using a mid function to place my fields accross the string field with spaces between individual strings and the string ends up with all of my individual fields placed together.
ie. I want to dipslay "CLK Clerk 20.00 P"
and what I actually get is "CLKClerk20.00P"
