Own file extentions...

I have a vb program installed on my computer and they have some files that have their own extention, its .rtd

How easy is it to have your own extention, for example, i would like to use ".rsk" for my ending of files such as my data files. Right now i'm using .dat for these files.
 
Yeah, you can make the extension of your file whatever you'd like. If you'd like your file to be filename.reallyreallyreallylongfineextensionthatnobodywouldeverusebecauseofhowobscenelylongithappenstobe you could with no consequence ( Except that it takes forever to type )
