need some pointers

because I'm not even sure what to search on..

I see it on other sites where the parms for the data are passed in the url string. How do you do that. How do you pass parms to a web page, have them sent to a sql stored procedure and then have the page get populated. Is there a better way to do it then that. wanting some help figuring out where to start.
